Spotlighting key female risk-takers and icons of the metal genre, raise your horns and get ready for “Women In Metal: You Will Know My Name,” a new exhibit featurette set to open at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame on July 10th. 

The exhibit will host artifacts by key figures in the metal world that challenge the status quo and make meaningful, pioneering efforts in the metal genre. It will feature: Lita Ford, Lzzy Hale, Alisa White-Gluz, Courtney LaPlante, Militia Vox and more. These artists influence heavy metal culture through powerful lyrics, assertive personas and unapologetic rage. These women continue to influence future generations of musicians to be true to their own expression.

"I've been making dark and heavy music since 1995. 

To be recognized by the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is 

such an honor for me. I've been able to accomplish this with little to no help from the music industry machine. I was told that I was "a risk" and "an anomaly." That I "wasn't marketable" and that I had to change myself and my music to be accepted. That heavy metal was "not for you" or that "black women don't do that." The industry wouldn't bet on me, so I bet on myself.  

I found solace within the metal community and other metal musicians- the people that truly make this genre outstanding. They are the ones that have supported me over the years. 

I stand here today to tell the others- 'YOU WERE WRONG.'

"Women In Metal" will open to the public with a celebration featuring Lzzy Hale and Joe Hottinger of Halestorm, appearances by women in the exhibition, followed by performances on the outdoor PNC stage.
